The Women’s Policy Alliance has documented this gap, in black and white, in the Missouri Women’s Report.
Key findings of the Missouri Women’s Report:
- women earn less and are more likely to live in poverty than men;
- women face more obstacles than men when trying to get the health care we need;
- almost as many women earn higher education degrees as men, however women earn 90% of what men with degrees earn;
- women run into more roadblocks than men when seeking public office.
You can help Missouri become a state where women have equity with men.
How?
- Urge your public servants to support the public policy recommendations in the Missouri Women’s Report. If enacted these reforms would create greater equity for women in Missouri.
- Use the data to make your case for change: women’s health care advocates across the state are using data from the report to strengthen their case to get more women covered by health insurance.
- The Women’s Foundation of Greater St. Louis and the Foundation for Missouri Women (both funders of the project) are using the data to inform their grant making strategies; the data could inform your strategies to advance women’s status too.
